Information about this car.
Car 572 has many upgrades and improvements. The front end
pictures received in 2020 show a different grill shell, smooth hood sides and no
clips holding the top of the hood to the sides. The current owner provided
the following info:
The gentleman who was the owner 2 back from me didn’t like the Jeep style clamps
on the hood so he made the hood and side panels himself. Now the hood hinges up
like a regular car and the side panels bolt on. The
hood pieces are longer
than the original ones were. I hated their 2 colored wiring system so I rewired
the whole car so I can know where all the wiring is going. I also put all new
white faced gauges which compliment the car nicely.
and then Larry, the current owner shared additional info:
It
is a new hood which is longer and metal plus the side panels are metal also. It
has hinges in the back, on the firewall, and the prop and latch are aftermarket
so you pull a knob and it unlatches and you lift the prop lever to hold the hood
up. He said he cut a 1030 style radiator shell down some, welded it, and put
5/16 stainless tubes in place of the traditional looking radiator cover. He also
moved the headlight bar forward
and eliminated the parking lights.
Why is some of this in PURPLE?
Many of the changes to this car were done by prior
owners, so the details are not available. The bump-outs on the hood sides are
not there, suggesting that either the items like the alternator are moved in, or
the under-hood space has been widened - and if the hood is longer, why, and how
was that done?
